| USAFE Golf Championships The 2007 USAFE Golf Championships concluded today at Ramstein AB, Germany. Forty-two golfers from four countries (Germany, Italy, Netherlands, and England) were challenged over three days to prove they were the best in USAFE. In the end, TSgt Jason Perry from Ramstein AB, Germany showed the other 41 golfers he was the best in USAFE with a three-day total score of 214 (par 210). The victory earned TSgt Perry an invitation to the 2007 US Air Force Golf Championships in September at Shaw AFB, South Carolina. Other notable finishes: Category (18-29): Category (30-39) Category (40+) The staff of the 435th Services Golf Course did an outstanding job in support of the USAFE Golf Championships...first class organization 1. The 2007 USAFE Golf Championships will be held at the Woodlawn Golf Course, Ramstein AB, Germany, 10-15 June, 2007. 2. Tournament Format: This championship is a 54-hole stoke play tournament. Handicaps will be considered for “grouping” purposes; not for scoring. The USAFE Championships will be governed by USGA rules and include the following categories: - Men’s Open 3. Eligibility: All military ID card holders to include active duty, civilians and family members (who are at least 18 years old and out of school). The top active duty Air Force male and female golfers (regardless of division) will receive an automatic invitation to the AF Golf Trials, 14-20 Aug 07, Shaw AFB, SC. The Air Force Sports Office stipulates that there must be at least three active duty males and three active duty females in the competition to warrant the automatic berth. All other golfers may apply using the AF Form 303, Request for Specialized Sports Training; applications are due to the USAFE Sports Office NLT 1 Aug 07. USAFE Sports encourages players of all levels to participate in this year’s event. Our goal is to maximize participation and have a fun, yet competitive tournament. 4. As a sanctioned USAFE Sports Office event, Permissive Temporary Duty (PTDY) to include necessary travel time is authorized with commander’s concurrence. Air Force members should refer to AFI 36-3003, Table 7, Rule 33, Leave Program for more details. PTDY can be accomplished on AF Form 988, Request for Leave/Authorization. Active Duty personnel are required to maintain Air Force appearance standards as stated in AFI 36-2903, Standards of Dress and Appearance. 5. Schedule of Events: 10 Jun 07: (Sun) Travel day-athletes arrive 11 Jun 07: (Mon) Check-in (1000) and practice round (18-holes) 11 Jun 07: (Mon) Players meeting at 1700 on golf course patio (Icebreaker) - Tee times posted for opening day - Putting competition - Chipping competition 12 Jun 07: (Tues) First round of championships (0800) - Longest drive competition; hole will be designated 13 Jun 07: (Wed) Second round of championships (0800) - Closest to the pin competition; hole will be designated 14 Jun 07: (Thu) Final round of championships Awards presentation/post-championship meal (1400) 15 Jun 07: (Fri) Travel day-athletes depart 6. Lodging: USAFE Sports has reserved 20 rooms at Sembach AB, Germany (approximately a 25 minute drive from Ramstein); rooms will be booked on a first-come, first-served basis. All lodging requests should be coordinated with USAFE Sports. Lodging fees will be paid directly to Sembach Lodging. Spouses are invited to attend and can stay at Sembach Lodging for an additional $30. (CHILDREN ARE PROHIBITED FROM USING THESE QUARTERS). Reservations for dates/locations other than listed on this message will be made by the individual. To ensure room reservation you must check-in NLT 1800 or provide a credit card to Sembach Lodging (DSN 489-8500, option #2) for late arrivals. Individuals are responsible for all lodging costs. 7. Awards: Medals will be presented to the first, second and third place finishers in each category. The winners of the putting, chipping, longest drive, and closest to the pin competitions will receive separate prizes (Commercial Sponsorship is Coca-Cola). 8. Registration: The championship entry fee is $90 per person; $50 for those with annual memberships at their respective bases (Air Force only). Fee includes: - One 18-hole practice round - Three 18-hole championship rounds - Icebreaker (raffle for Bitburger /Coca-Cola commercial sponsorship items) - Gift bag upon check-in - Four lunch vouchers to include: hot dog or hamburger, chips, and soda, bottled water or Gatorade - Four range tokens - Post-event awards presentation and meal directly following the final round Registrations to include payment must be received by the Woodlawn Golf Course NLT Wednesday, 6 Jun 07. Payment may in the form of a check or paid over the phone using a credit/debit card. Refunds will not given after Friday, 8 Jun 07. The first 50 entries will receive a free event T-shirt. Tee times for practice rounds are on first-come, first-served basis and can be scheduled upon receipt of payment. The tournament staff will post tee times for the remainder of the event. 9.
