USAFE Tennis Team, Reigning Champions!

The USAFE Tennis teams competed 21-24 Sep 2010 during the HQ Allied Air Command Tennis Championships in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. The USAFE team competed against teams from Belgium, Germany, Poland, the Netherlands and the Royal Air Force in a Davis Cup Format, 2 singles and one double. The defending Champs, USAFE men and women swept the competition with the women winner over Royal Netherlands Air Force 3-0, German Air Force 3-0 and Royal Air Force 2-1. In the championship match, USAFE defeated Germany 3-0 to take the women championship. In the men competition, USAFE defeated Royal Air Force 3-0, German Air Force 3-0. USAFE men defeated the Royal Netherlands Air Force, 2 - 1 to repeat as HQ Allied Air command Tennis Champions. With the matches tied at one against the Netherlands men, Captain Trevor Johnson was down one set and battle back to take the next two sets giving USAFE men the championship. Female Team Members: Capt Katherine Bushey and SSgt Anixa Almeyda undefeated in Singles play and 1Lt Erlyn Rudico and Team Coach Heather Gage undefeated in doubles. Male Team Members: Capt Trevor Johnson, undefeated in singles and Lt Robert Alexander, lost one match, and Captains Chris and Greg Zielinski, Capt Joseph Reveteriano, and Capt Justin Mancinelli were undefeated in doubles competition.
